I am not sure how this is supposed to work. I guess I will get the ball rolling by asking a couple questions.

Your book compares the Christian life/walk/run to the actual running of a race. Have you done much actual running of races? I was wondering if you were a marathon runner at some point in your life and were inspired by that.

I didn't know there was such a thing as an actual Christian Olympics. Where does it take place?

Or are you referring to the spiritual "olympics" that your book is about - i.e. the "running of the good race"?

That is a very good question.
I have been a "spiritual" marathon runner for several decades which is true of every Christian that has been running for Jesus for a long time.

Yes, we who have been running the race and fighting the good fight are indeed marathon runners. Smile

Ok, cool. So ... when did it start? I am assuming it "began" with the ministry of Jesus as He taught the disciples and then really kicked into being with the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, when the church was established. Smile

This is so exciting to talk about.I have to calm down.
Yes,it started on the Day of Pentecost.In fact it was the 'divine' Opening Ceremony.Can you just picture this: the fire of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost was reminiscent of the lighting of the Olympic flame for the opening cermony of the Olympic Games.

This book is inspired by God and full of analogies comparing the Christian race to the Olympic Games from the scriptures.
Here is more excitement :the scriptures reveal that not only did we have a 'divine' Opening ceremony,but we also have a Closing and Reward Ceremony.

What a wonderful ending we will have at the greatest award ceremony ever!! Oh wow. What a day that will be. I think it will truly be more than we ever hoped or dreamed it would be. So cool! Mr. Green

I believe you are right it will be more than we would ever think or dream.
Looking forward to those things that are before and pressing toward the mark(Phil.3:13-14) will keep us going.

I think that is why God compares the Christian life to an athlete because it does get very hard sometimes.But when we see ourselves as spiritual athletes, it gives us a better understanding of what we are going through.
And it helps us to endure like an athlete does.

As long as we have life left in us ... we still have racing to do. The race is not over. Even Paul, in his old age, said he has not yet reached the goal and kept running for the prize. Smile
